The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières (Domaine Louis Jadot) is showing beautifully, bursting with aromas of pear and peach mingled with white flowers and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and pure, it's lively and precise, with a long, saline finish.
The 2023 Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru has a more inviting bouquet than the Les Charmes with clementine and peach notes, perhaps lacking some typicité but it does have charm. The palate has approximately the same weight and concentration as the Les Charmes, with fine acidity and purity, and a spicy finish that lingers. The 2023 is not quite as good as the 2022, but not far off.
A naturally exotic nose freely reveals its aromas of jasmine tea, mineral reduction, star anise and pretty floral wisps. The gorgeously textured, rich and caressing medium weight flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the equally dry finish that is youthfully austere. This is fairly tightly wound at present but I suspect that it could be approached after only 4 to 5 years, though it should easily develop and improve for longer.
A little more yellow in colour, not quite so fresh a nose. This Genevrières has the juniper touch on the palate, more restrained than Charmes, and keeps the tension, plus length in the mouth. One of the earliest to be picked, with Combettes, in order to retain acidity.
