Cask sample. Mid-pale ruby. Ripe red and black fruits on the nose. Full-bodied, ripe-fruited palate with firm structure and ripe, forceful tannins. More a long-term prospect. (MH)

The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru shows a little more reduction on the nose than the Aux Brûlées, though it does not disguise the concentration locked into this wine. Yet, as Mathilde Grivot said, it is a bit bashful and more difficult to taste at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins that impart a velvety texture. It has darker fruit than the Aux Brûlées, with a liberal sprinkling of cracked black pepper on the finish. This is a wine that deserves several years in a cellar. Preferably mine.

Firm reduction renders the nose impossible to evaluate. The moderately dense and super-sleek middle weight flavors are borderline aggressively mineral-driven while the chiseled, bright and strikingly long finish is impeccably well-balanced. This could however use better depth so at least mid-term keeping should prove to be most beneficial.

An excellent ruby purple. Apparently, this has been slow to start showing its paces but it certainly seems on form now. An excellent structure behind the red fruit which is evenly spaced across the palate. The fruit tastes as if picked at the perfect moment, with a crunch at the finish which I love, and less salinity. Perhaps the longest finish to date.
