The 2022 growing season across the entire Côte de Beaune region was warm and dry, leading to earlier flowering and a harvest that began earlier than usual. In Vincent Girardin's wine “Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru 2022,” the cool nights in the middle of the slope allowed the grapes to ripen without the heaviness often seen in hot years. "Les Folatières" is located on one of the best Premier Cru plots in Puligny, and Éric Germain’s team crafted this vintage using the restrained approach characteristic of this estate. In the 2022 vintage, it is not so much the bright notes of tropical fruit that come to the fore, but rather hints of orchard fruit and citrus, while the chalky tension characteristic of Puligny-Montrachet remains unchanged. Despite its richness, this vintage is by no means overly soft.
