The year 2023 in the Northern Rhône was marked by a warm, and at times harsh, growing season. At the start of the growing season, there were concerns about powdery mildew, and in the summer, the region suffered from intense heat. As for the “Crozes Hermitage” single-varietal wine from the “Domaine de Thalabert” vineyard, produced by Paul Jaboulet Aîné, the Syrah grapes, grown on gravelly-clay terraces in the vicinity of Thon-l’Hermitage, were harvested while retaining a rich, fruity flavor and moderate acidity. The team led by Caroline Frey bottled the 2023 vintage after approximately nine months of aging. Enjoy “Thalabert,” a wine that beautifully preserves the rich aromas of dark fruits and the peppery spice characteristic of the Syrah variety, yet it doesn’t feel heavy and possesses such freshness that you’ll want to drink it endlessly.
