Kings Farm Red is Kongsgaard's Napa Valley red, made from on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the 2020 vintage was produced from grapes that grew during an extremely hot and dry growing season. Due to this heat, the 2020 vintage belongs to the relatively warm group among recent Napa vintages, alongside 2015, 2016, and 2019, and tends to exhibit ripe, dark fruit and a robust structure rather than delicacy.
Kongsgaard adheres to a principle of minimal intervention, a philosophy most clearly evident in Chardonnay, which is fermented in small French oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. Although the winery is not officially certified, it cultivates grapes using sustainable and organic methods.
Decanting is recommended. Best enjoyed through 2040.
