2024 was a challenging year for the Côte de Nuits: cool and rainy weather, along with the threat of gray mold in the vineyards, required constant attention, which led to a lower harvest. Charles Van Canneyt, who has headed this estate since 2008, carried out a meticulous selection process both in the vineyards and in the winery. Fermentation primarily using destemmed grapes and only with indigenous yeasts. Compared to recent warm vintages, a lighter and more aromatic style can be expected. It is recommended to let the wine age for some time and enjoy it between 2027 and 2036.

About Hudelot-Noellat

Ten hectares, four villages, 15 appellations: Hudelot-Noellat works one of the more remarkable patchworks in the Côte de Nuits, from 0.28 hectares of Richebourg planted in 1950 to Romanée-Saint-Vivant vines dating to 1920. Alain Hudelot started with two plots in Chambolle-Musigny in 1962, and the estate grew through his marriage to Odile Noëllat, granddaughter of Charles Noëllat of Vosne-Romanée. Since 2008 his grandson Charles Van Canneyt has run things from the village of Vougeot, refining rather than rebuilding. Limestone and marl on east-facing slopes, vines averaging around 50 years, organic management since 2019, and new oak kept in check at roughly 20 per cent for village wines. The style is silky, aromatic and precise. Often closed when young, which is why patience pays here.
