Gaia & Rey 2024 is a white wine made from the Chardonnay grape variety, produced by Gaja using 100% Chardonnay grapes. The aroma features prominent notes of citrus and orchard fruits, with a cool, stony nuance underlying the bouquet. On the palate, it is refined rather than powerful, with a smooth texture and a clean, quiet, and lingering finish. The flavor still conveys a sense of youthfulness.
The summer of 2024 enjoyed favorable weather through August, and the majority of the harvest was concentrated into a brief, dry period lasting just a few days. This rapid, dry harvest preserved the fruit's crispness, which is reflected in the wine's refreshing and well-structured flavor.
The wine is made from grapes sourced from the Giacosa vineyard in the Treiso district, planted in 1979, as well as from the Rivette vineyard located in the Serralunga district, specifically in the Serralunga d'Alba area. Eighteen months of aging in oak barrels imparts a refined flavor to the wine without compromising the fruit's aroma.
Gaja has been part of Langhe since Giovanni Gaja established this estate in 1859. This wine is best enjoyed between 2027 and 2040.
