Very juicy mango and pineapple character with a touch of chutney spices on the medium- to full-bodied palate make this a crowd pleaser. Silky and elegant, with a certain lightness of touch that makes it glide over your palate in the long, moderately dry finish. Picked between November 8 and 16. Drink or hold
The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Rotes Tor Smaragd was picked in gneiss-based sites across Spitz, avoiding loess. Ripe green pear, verging into yellow stone fruit and golden pear peel, sets the tone on the nose. The palate is peppery and smooth, fluid with rich, fresh, juicy fruit and an almost zesty texture reminiscent of pear peel. The length of the wine is astonishing; what remains is zestiness, texture and savor. Exquisite. (Bone-dry)
