Scents of pear, white flowers, fresh pastry and orange oil introduce the 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Clos des Chevaliers, a full-bodied, lively and incisive wine that's tightly wound and serious, with fine depth at the core and a long, chalky finish. This is very promising.
Though a pale lemon colour, the bouquet shows a little evolution, which does not disappear. I like the wine on the palate, very much white fruit, a little quality oak alongside and with a long crisp finish. It is just the bouquet letting it down, which I think will be temporary. Some alcohol at the finish, despite the grand cru weight.
