The 2019 growing season in the Napa Valley, following a rainy winter with heavy precipitation, created conditions under which the vines in the East Block exhibited a prolonged and consistent ripening curve. At the end of the harvest, there were no issues related to a sudden rise in temperature. As a result, Tom Garrett was able to harvest the 2019 East Block Cabernet Franc, leaving the berries on the old vines until they were fully ripe but preventing them from overripening. Compared to the high-altitude vintages of recent years, this vintage is characterized by greater restraint, rich complexity, and depth that surpasses its power.
