With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine is not particularly full-bodied. And that is precisely the point. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy got off to a fast start. A mild winter, a warm March, early budbreak, and a sudden heat wave around Pentecôte led to rapid flowering. The summer was relatively cool, with temperatures dropping significantly starting in mid-August. The harvest took place relatively early. The hailstorm on June 28 hit the Côte de Beaune region the hardest, though the Côte de Nuits region also sustained some damage.
As a result, the 2014 Les Amoureuses is a wine characterized more by tension than body, with distinct floral and red fruit aromas typical of Chambolle-Musigny. Comte de Vogüé's wines require patience. This wine is best enjoyed between 2020 and 2045.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses is very different from the Chambolle Premier Cru, This explodes with blueberry and blackberry, wilted violets and then later, a touch of boysenberry jam. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe dark cherry fruit, a vein of white pepper, fine structured and very pure with superb tension and mineralité bursting through on the finish. This is a divine Amoureuses, probably more approachable when young compared to recent vintages, but with the substance to age as this cuvée has an inclination to do.

Dark crimson. A little inexpressive today on the nose. Savoury and ambitious. Lots tucked in there but not the full amplitude yet. A tiny bit stringy on the end. It’s telling us to go away and come back another day. Jancis Robinson
Vinous (94)
Bright, full, deep red. Dark berries, crushed black cherry, licorice, bitter chocolate and wild herbs on the nose. Sappy and imploded, with blackberry, blueberry and mineral flavors lifted by a strong floral element. Still a bit stunted from being racked ten days before my visit. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins and repeating floral lift.
Burghound (95)
Here the elegant and cool nose is spicier still though less evidentially floral in character with its extract of red and black currant, plum and sandalwood-scented aromas. The mouth feel of the middle weight and beautifully well-delineated flavors is silky and markedly refined, all wrapped in a firm and youthfully austere finish that is also sneaky long because as soon as it appears to have disappears, it reappears. A classic Amoureuses.
Jasper Morris (91)
Full dark colour, quite sombre. A note of evolution. Thick dark fruit, quite high acidity, disjointed today though there is impressive weight, but at the moment it is showing a slight lack of freshness.
