The 2010 growing season in Bordeaux created truly ideal conditions for the Merlot variety, grown on the clay-loam soils of the Right Bank. It was a dry summer with cool nights and a slow ripening process, which necessitated delaying the harvest. For Petrus, this meant that they were able to harvest grapes with thick skins, high concentration, and robust natural acidity. The result is a Pomerol with a more robust structure and more restrained fruit notes compared to the 2009 vintage, as well as greater aging potential. This is a Petrus crafted with a priority on cellar aging, and only secondarily on the pleasure of tasting it at the table.
