Chateau Canon

Château Canon, located in the heart of Saint-Émilion, is named after Jacques Kanon, who acquired the estate in 1760. Chanel, the owner of Château Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux, has owned Château Canon since 1996. The 18 hectares of vineyards are split between the limestone plateau and the clay/loam côtes, with 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc planted at a density of 5,600 per hectare. Vines were planted on these soils for over 500 years.

The wine undergoes traditional vinification in temperature-controlled wooden vats for up to 20 days, followed by 18 months of maturation in oak barrels, with 70% new oak. Château Canon is classified as a 1er Grand Cru Classé (B) and requires cellaring to reveal its full potential, exhibiting a soft, buttery Merlot grape aroma typical of the top Saint-Émilions and Pomerols.

Chateau Canon 2015 is rated 100 points by James Suckling. The 1982 is still a hidden treasure.
