Grating texture with some coffee-grounds impression and massive weight. Very serious stuff. Not yet magic but it probably will be.
A rich heady purple. The nose has power but perhaps not elegance. Some toasted barrel notes, a plump deep concentrated fruit but with a very slightly charred feel. Looks like the producer has done as good a job as he could to save the situation, with fruit which had already taken a touch of sunburn. Time in the glass opens this out more and the finish has a little sweetness of fruit
