Robert Parker (90)

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château offers up aromas of sweet red berries, loamy soil and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and melting palate. Pretty and perfumed, it will offer a broad drinking window.

Jancis Robinson (16)

Cask sample. Clear, bright mid-pale cherry. Attractive nose of clean, fresh red cherries and strawberry. Moderate intensity and concentration. Sweet, classically simple burgundian Pinot. Warmth on the finish. (MH)

Vinous (88)

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château has a fragrant but light and airy bouquet with brambly red fruit and rose petals. The palate is quite tart on the entry. Red cherry mixes with crushed strawberry and highlights a slightly bitter edge on the finish. Drink this Gevrey over the next six to eight years.

Burghound (91)

A fresh, cool and ripe nose consists mostly of distinctly earthy and softly spicy red berries. The juicy and vibrant middleweight flavors possess an appealing mouthfeel before concluding in a sneaky long, balanced and lightly austere finale.

Jasper Morris (91)

Pale red crimson. Straight away one can detect the fine sensual yet discreet ‘Rousseau’ nose. Pretty roses and light red fruit, low key but pleasing. I understand why, when tasting blind, I often suspect whole bunch vinification in what turns out to be a Rousseau wine.
