As usual, the 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village is a touch deeper and more structured than the Clos du Château, exhibiting notes of sweet red berry compote and plums mingled with spices and vine smoke. Medium-bodied, supple and penetrating, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, it includes fruit from premiers crus Perrières and Etournelles Saint-Jacques.
Cask sample. Mid ruby. Clean fresh nose of red fruits, strawberry, raspberry and cherry. On the palate the fruit is less red and slightly fuller – raspberry, cassis dusted with spice. Actually, some quite big flavours and very definitely 13% abv.
Mid purple more depth, equally striking. This absolutely fills the mouth with the most beautiful cherries and raspberries, and just a very slightly dry finish which the fruit soon climbs over
