An expressive and somewhat grapey nose features notes of poached plum, menthol, dark cherry and a whiff of port-like character that reflects the elevated ripeness of the 2018 vintage. There is acceptable concentration in the context of what this is along with good energy and detail, all wrapped in a slightly warm finish that is given a sense of lift by evident minerality. I would describe this as somewhat awkward at present as the component pieces haven't fully integrated at present, yet I suspect that with age, this may well come together, and my rating offers the benefit of the doubt.
