Founded in 1966 by Robert Mondavi, this estate is widely credited with helping define modern Napa Valley wine. The winery is especially known for Cabernet Sauvignon and the Fumé Blanc (Sauvignon Blanc) style that Mondavi championed. The estate vineyards include the notable To Kalon vineyard in Oakville, considered one of Napa’s most important sites. Mondavi wines have long been covered by the major critics and occupy a central place in American wine history.
