The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch is a worthy follow-up the 2019. Rich, deep and explosive, the 2021 dazzles with its intensity and overall poise. Helen Keplinger has done an admirable job in taming the formidable Oakville Ranch tannins. Cabernets from Oakville Ranch are rarely this finessed. Mocha, pomegranate, dried herbs and rose petals linger on the sublime finish.

All three of the Cabernet Sauvignon 2021s from Keplinger are absolute lights-out good. Starting with the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Ranch Vineyard, it has a deep purple hue as well as an incredible array of blackcurrants, iron, chocolate, and loamy earth, with just a kiss of background herbal and tobacco nuances. It's full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful, with building tannins and an incredible finish. It needs time.
