I caught the 2014 La Poza de Ballesteros one week before bottling and the wine showed the puppy fat of the very young wines, the slightly warmer vintage (compared with 2013), the more generous terroir, the deeper soils and the more Mediterranean character of the plot. This 2014 was defined by López de Lacalle as more dynamic (when he felt some 2013 were a little stressed by cold). There is more generous fruit here and some hints of aromatic herbs; this is not a very ripe vintage, but feels a little riper than other bottlings. There will be 6,600 bottles from 2014
JS This is very sexy and fragrant with dark berry fruits. Full body, silky tannins and a gorgeous finish. Open and glorious. Powdery tannins. Plush.
