Robert Parker (93)

The 2019 Tinto Quinta de Ervamoira is a field blend aged for 18 months in one-third new French oak (about one-third overall in large vats). It comes in at 15.6% alcohol. A harder wine than the Duas Quintas Reserva, this doesn't seem to handle its power quite as well, but it doesn't go fully off the rails either. On the good news side of the ledger, it projects lots of flavor and has precision on the long finish. If I wasn't quite sure the Duas Quintas Reserva was going to work in the long haul, I am probably even less sure here. Yet at the same time, it often seems spectacular and delicious. I predict this will work out, but give it a couple of years in the cellar. It certainly needs to answer some questions in the cellar. I would rather be especially cautious just now.
