The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Lupi e Sirene makes for a grand debut in these pages thanks to the balanced nature of this softy-textured wine that is laced by dried spice, licorice and a bright scent of red cherry fruit. Silky tannins frame the long close, where savory smoke and tobacco add final touches of complexity. Francesco Illy has been farming according to biodynamic methods since 2010.
