Syrah Suisassi 2018 Duemani
Tasted as a preview prior to bottling, the Duemani 2018 Syrah Suisassi is a gorgeous wine and ultimately more balanced compared to the 2017 vintage that I tasted at the same time for comparison. The 2017 shows richer concentration and a touch of bitterness on the tannins. This 2018 vintage, however, is smooth, fine and supple. It's a true gem and one of the best wines I have tasted yet from Luca D'Attoma and Elena Celli. Dark fruit cedes to mahogany and barbecue spice. Seamless, smooth and powerful, this is a one-way ticket into the heart of the Syrah grape without the heaviness or overextraction that you find in other warm-climate regions that focus on this variety. High-altitude vineyards facing the Tyrrhenian Sea make the difference.

Amazing intensity and aromatic quality of crushed berries, flowers and white pepper on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, yet tight and composed with great length and depth.
