The 2001 Barolo has aged quite well. Boroli is one of the only producers who showed a straight Barolo, and I have to say I was impressed with the way this entry-level wine has aged. The bouquet shows early signs of tertiary complexity, but the fruit remains powerful and quite full on the palate. Dark red fruit, truffles, mint and spices linger on the finish. The oak is a bit present considering the wine’s structure, but this is still a fine effort.
Lots of dried flowers and ripe strawberry aromas follow through to a full-bodied palate, with velvety tannins and a long finish.
