This has a blackcurrant note that is a little bit Sauvignon Blanc like, but nose is fragrant rather than overpowering. Medium-bodied and sleek, but the acidity is animating rather than dominant, and the flavors are cool and mineral right through the long finish.
Usually below the Abtsberg in the pecking order of Maximin Grünhaus, the Herrenberg has used its marginally cooler exposition in 2015 to draw at least level in terms of complexity. Stone fruit, garden herbs and a tactile mineral feel set fine accents expertly supported by animating acidity. (MS)
