One of my favorite vintages for this estate, the 2003 Clos Joliette is a remarkable wine that improved with several hours of air after opening. Revealing a complex bouquet of caramel, candied orange, mandarin, saffron, smoke, spices and dried apricot, it’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated and profound with a layered, fleshy core of fruit framed by a slightly phenolic, somewhat tannic texture. Its long, mineral and fruity finish is simply stunning and suggests that it will age well for 20 years or more. Residual sugar: 19.2 grams per liter. Yellow waxed capsules.
Directly from the domaine, this rare and very sought after 2003.
