The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaumonts had a little more reduction on the nose when I visited in October, although underneath there are some lovely dark cherry and raspberry fruit, perhaps veering a little black compared to the Brulees. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that exert a gentle grip. There is a pleasing salinity here that become more accentuated toward the structure finish. Aristocratic!
Black currant and blackberry flavors reign here, augmented by mineral, tar and spice notes, making this red complex. Shows power too, yet remains balanced and long, with a saturated aftertaste of fruit.
