The 2013 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a succinct nose, more introverted than the Bonnes-Mares at the moment, a little earthier perhaps, gradually unfurling with touches of iris, potpourri and rose petals. The palate is underpinned by succulent ripe tannin, very fine acidity and decidedly linear towards the finish, but extraordinarily long in the mouth with tangible mineralité. There is enormous potential locked up in this Musigny that deserves at least a decade in the cellar. One of the wines of the vintage? Quite possibly.
