Full bottle 1,316 g. Certified organic. From vines planted between 1909 and 1965. Unoaked wine aged for 12 months on fine lees. Unfined. Not (yet?) on the Haynes Hanson & Clark website.
Rich and satisfying on the nose with light nuttiness. Broad on the palate with some salinity. Thoroughly satisfying already. Streak of lime adds interest.
The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé is ample and charming, exhibiting aromas of freshly baked bread, apple, citrus oil and flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and satiny palate.
The 2021 Pouilly-Fuissé was aged for 12 months instead of the usual 24 months, as Romain Cornin aged the 2020 for an extra year and needed the space in the vat. It has a brightness on the nose that is very appealing, well-defined with Granny Smiths and just a light touch of fennel and menthol. The palate is well balanced, much more intense than I anticipated (especially given the growing season), with that leitmotif of menthol returning towards the vivacious finish. Excellent.
