In the mediocre vintages of the fifties, sixties and early seventies, Latour frequently made the best wine in the Medoc. Not so in 1980. The wine is clearly well above average for the vintage, but lacks weight and richness. Fruity, charming, supple, with a pleasant fruitiness, it is slightly short on the palate.
A pretty and harmonious wine. Amber-red color. Berry, cedar, ash, with hints of tea and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with medium silky tannins and a tobacco, cherry finish.
Rene Gabriel rates this wine 17/20 points.
