The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is one of the finest regular Cabernet Sauvignons Mondavi has produced. A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Syrah (13.9% alcohol), this dark ruby-colored wine with purple nuances has sweet black currant flavors mixed with spice box, licorice, and toast notes.

Dark, dense and tannic, but remarkably supple for such a big wine, offering lots of currant, cherry and bitter almond flavors, finishing with a bite that will need until 1998-2003 to soften.
