Bottled in June 2018, the 2016 Chardonnay opens with decadent nectarine, spiced pears and apple pie scents with hints of lemon tart, orange blossoms and candied ginger plus a waft of marzipan. Full-bodied and rich, with a lovely satiny texture, it has a seamless line of freshness and tons of citrus and stone layers on the finish.

Popcorn, butter, cream, melon, toast, apple: a kaleidoscope of flavour. One of the absolute best of its type, with proud oak, full body and gorgeous fruit.

Vinous (95)

The 2016 Chardonnay has really come together during its aging. Fresh and detailed, the 2016 has grown into a wine of total finesse. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper give the 2016 a super appealing upper register that really explodes. Ample and generous on the palate, with tremendous depth, the 2016 is positively stunning.

Decanter (95)

This has a rich nose of peach, apricot and pineapple, followed by mango, toffee oak and a wave of delicious vanilla. An opulent wine with underlying citrus notes, minerality and fresh acidity. A complex, never-ending finish puts this wine at grand cru level. Jon Kongsgaard makes some of the best Chardonnays in California; their concentration allows them to beautifully handle a full 22 months ageing in new French barrels.
