Wow. So much complexity to this full-bodied white. White peaches, peach tea, lemons, nectarines, rosemary, jasmine tea and wet stones mingle on the nose and palate. So fresh, too, with racy acidity. Less richness than the 2023, with more elegance and purity. Evolves to a wet-stone and seashell minerality in the endless finish. Drink or hold.
Spitz. A smallish vineyard (8.31 ha) quite close to the Danube at 208–308 m. Steep (average gradient 50%) with dry-stone walls, Riesling on the steeper parts. Shallow, meagre and sandy soils. Paragneiss, mica schist. RS 2.3 g/l, TA 6.6 g/l. Certified sustainable.
Golden fruits and deep citrus flavours. Full, rich and beautifully fresh. Long and likely to have a long future. Julia Harding MW
The 2024 Riesling Singerriedel Smaragd offers Seville orange on the nose, aromatic, divinely pure, lifted and intensely scented. The palate is ripe, vivid and potent, with latent heat. Concentrated and driven, the body is stony, bold and delivers a striking citrus hit. Incredibly vivid and bold.
Bright yellow green, silver reflections. Delicate yellow tropical fruit, a hint of peach, orange blossom, beats an aromatic peacock wheel, cool minerality. Complex, tightly woven, white fruit nuances, finesse-rich structure, incredibly multi-layered, lingers for minutes, shows perfect harmony.
