From a very dry and sunny vintage and calcareous sandstone soils with clay, the 2022 Grand Cru Altenberg is clear and fresh but also generous and intense on the deep, complex and concentrated nose. Saline, herbal and lemony notes as well as its precision give it a quite coolish appearance for this very warm and super dry vintage. Rich, lush and densely textured yet also refined and elegant on the palate, this is a complex and sustainably saline Altenberg with chocolate as well as discreet minty notes. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.

The 2022 Altenberg de Bergheim Grand Cru is an Alsace field blend. A gorgeous hint of honeysuckle perfumes a touch of smoky peach compote. The palate is all smoothness, tenderness and balm, covering the senses with a scented blanket of flowers and fruit. The Mirabelle fruit is exquisitely pure, soothing, bright and seemingly eternal. It has wonderful freshness, incredible charm, vivid depth and visceral pleasure. (Medium)
