The 2023 Fuentecebolla is a single-vineyard red that I had not tasted before because they wanted to keep it for one year. It's from one of the best plots in Canalejas de Peñafiel at 890 meters above sea level, on a thin layer of clay on top of the limestone bedrock with sand on top, planted with a field blend of Tinto Fino, Bobal, Garnacha, Albillo Mayor, Pirules and Alarije. It fermented with 35% full clusters in used 500-liter French oak barrels, where it matured for 16 months. It's more open, perfumed, aromatic and expressive than the other single-vineyard wines from 2023. Apparently, this is always the most open, forward and pretty of the wines, marked by the roughly 10% Garnacha in the field blend. This has a stunning palate too, fine-boned, balanced and vibrant, with contained ripeness and alcohol, only 12.3% alcohol, a pH of 3.63 and over six grams of acidity, denoting a fine-boned, fresh and very pretty wine. 646 bottles produced.
