Robert Parker (93)

Made from a blend of Sémillon Blanc and Semillon Gris, Palomino, Chenin Blanc and Muscat, the 2022 Old Vine Series T Voetpad comes from the oldest co-planted vineyard in the country. It is mineral, with zesty citrus notes that entice and delight. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright and popping yet shows surprising phenolic bitterness and a kiss of skin tannins across the long, lingering, spicy finish. Give it one more year in the bottle and enjoy with food. Only 2,200 bottles were produced.

Winespectator (92)

There's a creamy edge to the flavors of baked melon, dried raspberry, lemon preserves, ginger biscuit and beeswax on display in this detailed white. Yet this shows good tension and bright, well-cut acidity throughout, creating a pleasing interplay between freshness and richness on the palate that persists on the spiced finish. Chenin Blanc, Palomino, Muscat of Alexandria, Sémillon Gris and Sémillon.

Jancis Robinson (18)

Semillon Blanc, Semillon Gris, Palomino, Chenin Blanc and Muscat d’Alexandrie. From the Swartland. 13 hl/ha. Ageing 12 months in old acacia and oak foudre.
Restrained but beautifully interwoven aromas, waxy yet fresh. Whiffs of hay bales, camomile, fynbos and violets. On the palate, fresh and linear, almost weightless but not insubstantial, picking up volume and finishing on a gentle puff of persistence. (MF)
