The 2024 “Corton-Charlemagne” wine from Vincent Girardin is the result of a challenging harvest year for Burgundy. Spring frosts, summer rains, and the threat of powdery mildew kept winemakers on edge throughout the season, leading to lower yields across the Côte de Beaune. Mr. Girardin’s team applied biodynamic farming methods across most of the Corton hills and, during the harvest, carefully selected only the healthy grapes. The result is a Chardonnay characterized not so much by fullness as by tension. Its style is expected to be more restrained and edgy than that of the 2022 vintage, which is distinguished by a strong sense of maturity. Recommended for drinking between 2027 and 2040.
