The 2023 Riesling Schlossberg Grand Cru is a whole degree lower in alcohol, as its granite soils are so much drier than limestone, making it harder for the vines to metabolize. Trimbach's parcel is just a little above the castle to the right. It's a new parcel that's lower down and has slightly deeper soils. Right now, the nose is shy, wanting to give away almost nothing. Swirling reveals a touch of mandarin, but only just. The palate portrays that citrus streak, a smooth texture and a stony backbone. This will take time. (Bone-dry)
