Riesling Hommage à Hubert Trimbach 2023 Trimbach

Riesling Hommage à Hubert Trimbach 2023 is a dry white wine produced in Alsace. It is a one-time tribute wine dedicated to Hubert Trimbach (1938-2023). Hubert Trimbach was responsible for the estate's sales for decades and passed away on the second day of the 2023 harvest. The grapes were harvested from three plots, some of which are Grand Cru sites. 

The year 2023 began with a dry, mild winter followed by a humid but cool spring. Then the heat arrived. The flowering period took place during the first two weeks of June amid significant heat, which caused coulure, a phenomenon where flowers fail to set fruit, resulting in a significant reduction in Riesling's yield. The summer was hot and dry, but some rain fell, preventing the vines from stalling their growth due to water stress. The period just before the harvest were  clear skies during the day and cool nights, conditions necessary for the Riesling variety to ripen without losing its structural acidity.

The alcohol content is 13%, lower than that of the 2022 vintage, and this is evident in the wine itself. It is a concentrated wine that relies on finesse rather than heaviness.
