The Mullineux family created the “Iron Chenin Blanc 2024” wine from grapes grown on iron-rich clay soils in the western part of Malmesbury, one of the three distinctive terroirs where the estate cultivates grapes throughout the Swartland region. These clay soils lend the wine density, structure and minerality. Husband and wife Chris and Andrea Mullineux grow grapes on this land without irrigation, using a bush-trained system in which the vines send deep roots in search of water. This wine can age well to 2034 and beyond. If you’re familiar with their Chenin Blanc “Schist” or “Granite,” you can expect this wine to reveal a different flavour profile.
