The organic Monteverro 2021 Monteverro (made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a darkly saturated expression that is tightly focused and linear in presentation but is also quite generous in terms of texture. That pretty duality can be applied to the bouquet and to the mouthfeel, where the wine offers a lot of tonality and volume, all delivered with pretty sharpness.
This is a subtle Monteverro with graphite, currants, blackberries and some blackcurrants. Very pure and fresh. Medium- to full-bodied with crunchy berry, chocolate and hazelnut flavors. Fine, creamy tannins. 45% cabernet sauvignon, 40% cabernet franc, 10% cabernet franc and 5% petite verdot. Give this three or four years to show it all.
The 2021 Monteverro is one of the very finest wines I have tasted here. Explosive black fruit, plum, chocolate, new leather and licorice flow across the palate. Ample and resonant, with tremendous depth, the 2021 has a ton to offer.
