Robert Parker (93)

Redolent of sweet cherry, blackcurrant and lightly toasted spice, the certified organic Máté 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is unapologetically plump and juicy, a description that fits both the wine and the naturally primary character of the vintage. Bright fruit intensity drives the palate with notes of cherry, cassis and forest berry, creating a fresh and expressive style that emphasizes immediacy over austerity. The wine spends 28 months in oak, a regimen that supports texture. Production is limited to 2,466 bottles.

Winespectator (94)

A beam of fresh cherry and strawberry fruit takes center stage in this charming and elegant red. Mineral, wild herb and tobacco notes grace the long aftertaste, where a chalky sensation lingers.

James Suckling (93)

Restrained and rather delicate wine, offering mild spices, tea leaves, dried rose hips, graphite, aged tangerine peel and dried cranberries. Medium-bodied, fine-grained and layered. Very nicely developed and integrated with just a touch of austerity in the end. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Jancis Robinson (17)

Lustrous mid-to-deep ruby with orange tinges. Pretty, perfumed raspberry nose lifted by balsamic oak hints and chalky minerally notes. Lively raspberry fruit that is quite light of touch but really persistent and fragrant pushed by rich chewy tannins that become quite present on the finish, but this definitely needs and deserves more time. Vinous (93)

Shavings of dark chocolate mix with mint leaves and dried black cherries to form a delicate bouquet as the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wafts up from the glass. Silky smooth and supple, it washes across the palate with ease, showcasing ripe wild berry fruits over a wave of juicy acidity. It tapers off long and gently tannic, leaving a subtle licorice twang. This is a high-energy Riserva that impresses with its verve over complexity.

Falstaff (96)
