Vinified and aged in 800-liter amphoras; this wine never touched oak. Full medium ruby. A fruit bomb of black cherry, black raspberry, licorice and violet on the nose; I might have guessed Malbec. Then juicy, penetrating and pure in the mouth, if a bit lean. Distinctly black in its fruit character and very dry and tight today, even unyielding. This very intensely flavored wine shows a strong spice character and finishes with big, dusty tannins. I find this very imploded today. Patrick Landanger will bottle this cuvée separately.
The first sample, served blind in the pairing of En Cailleret. Fresher brighter colour. Some elegant fresh fruit, with a light dustiness on top. Racy scintillating stuff, very pure, quite floral, a tannin or two, acidity just present enough. No feeling of barrel tannins.
