Chablis La Forest 2015 Domaine Vincent Dauvissat

Chablis La Forest 2015 is a white Premier Cru from Domaine Vincent Dauvissat, made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. La Forest is the name this domaine uses to refer to its own Forêt vineyard.

The 2015 growing season in the Chablis region began early and was warm. Flowering began in early June, and the July and August periods were long, hot, and dry; the harvest lasted about two weeks. Because the grapes had high sugar levels while maintaining good acidity, this vintage presents a more fruit-forward profile than the typically described saline, lean style of Chablis. On 1 September, hail swept through a small area of the region, with the Les Clos, Blanchot, and Montée de Tonnerre areas suffering the most damage.

This warm weather further enriched the flavor profile of La Forest. While it has a richer body than in cooler years, the Kimmeridgian limestone still reveals a chalky, stony core in the mid-palate. Be sure to let it breathe sufficiently. Young bottles from this domaine tend to be closed for several years. It is best enjoyed through 2040.
