The full-bodied 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Clos St Patrice is loaded with brooding dark-skinned fruit and dark chocolate flavors. Full-bodied, soft and velvety, it's surprisingly approachable, even if it's not that expressive on the nose. It's a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre from this monopole, limestone-based vineyard in the heart of the village of Chateauneuf du Pape.
Flavorful and driven, this muscular red shows sweet cherries, ripe berries and dried leaves. Full-bodied with plush tannins. A solid frame of generous fruit meets a dense core of warm spices on the palate. Expansive yet focused, with a long finish.
75% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre. Aged for 14 months in concrete (100%). Tank sample.
Tasted blind. Creamy and soft nose – slight jamminess and note of black pepper. Rich and pepper-laden palate with fine tannins and rich dark-chocolate finish, finishes a little heavy.
Released in 2021
Strong ruby, purple reflections, broad ochre rim. Fine herbal spice, wild red berry confit, nuances of cherries and orange zest. Juicy, notes of plums and figs, ripe tannins, mineral, some nougat, already accessible.
