In 2020, the entire Côte de Beaune region enjoyed a warm and dry climate, and thanks to an early harvest, it was possible to produce a ripe Chardonnay characterized by richness and, at the same time, moderate acidity. This combination has not always been achieved in recent warm years. For the Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard “Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet 2020,” grapes were harvested from one of the smallest Grand Cru plots in Burgundy, known for producing rich, nuanced white wines. Although this vintage is expected to have a more full-bodied flavor than cooler vintages, the mineral character typical of “Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet” remains unchanged.
