The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village reveals aromas of cherries, spices and petals, followed by a medium-bodied, velvety and perfumed palate that's framed by fine, powdery tannins.
A more deeply pitched nose speaks of plum, violet, forest floor and newly turned earth. Here too the medium-bodied flavors possess a lovely texture even though there isn't the same refinement on the mildly rustic, youthfully austere and relatively powerful finale. This is a quality Gevrey villages.
Noticeably more colour, but also a reductive character on the nose, slightly more sombre strawberry fruit. The stems leap out at the end, with a slightly firm structure. The Gevrey is less together at the moment than the Morey or Chambolle.
