For more than two centuries, the name Marone Cinzano has been synonymous with Italian refinement, craftsmanship and vision. From the vineyards of Piedmont to the sun-drenched slopes of Montalcino, ten generations have built a legacy characterised by respect for nature and the pursuit of timeless excellence.

In the early 1970s, Count Alberto Marone Cinzano looked beyond his family's historic roots in Piedmont and saw potential in the tranquil hills of Montalcino. He believed strongly in the potential of Sangiovese and founded Col d'Orcia, helping to establish what would become one of Italy's most admired wine regions.

His son, Francesco Marone Cinzano, continued this vision with the innovative idea of organic and biodynamic viticulture, making Col d'Orcia a model of sustainable winegrowing long before it became a movement.

Today, Santiago Marone Cinzano, a member of the tenth generation, is leading the family into a new era. His philosophy is one of listening: to the vineyard, to the rhythm of each season and to the lessons of nature itself.

Lot.1, A new chapter

With Lot.1, Santiago introduces the first creation under Conti Marone Cinzano, offering a modern interpretation of Brunello that bridges tradition and innovation. At its core is Santiago's unique concept of the “itinerant cru”, a method whereby the chosen vineyard changes each year, depending on how nature expresses itself. Rather than relying on a fixed plot, Lot.1 celebrates adaptability and balance, selecting the plots that thrive best in the weather conditions and get the most out of each vintage.

Made from organically grown Sangiovese, Lot.1 exudes purity, finesse and authenticity; it is a Brunello that honours the past while embracing the future.

‘Our heritage is not preserved in tradition,’ says Santiago. ‘It lives on through our ability to evolve with nature and with time.’
