Bevan Cellars

Located in the California city of Santa Rosa, Bevan Cellars was founded in 2005 by Russel Bevan and Victoria De Crescenzo. The couple always liked to visit California, especially for the beautiful wines. During each stay, they visited several wineries and spoke to many different winegrowers. This inspired them so much, that they eventually decided to enter the business themselves. After a three-year search, they found the right place for their winery-to-be.

The vineyards are planted with Bordeaux varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The plantings are spread over several lots scattered throughout Napa Valley. Some vineyards get a cooling effect from the sea of the San Pablo Bay. This cooling ensures that the grapes achieve optimal ripeness, combined with a good acidity.

When it comes to quality, the grape bunches have to meet high demands. Typically, 6-8% of the grapes are thrown away because they do not meet the standard. After harvesting, the stems are removed and the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks. All red wines are aged in new French oak barrels. Bevan's main reds are Sugerloaf, Tench Vineyard, Ontogeny Propiertary and The Calixtro. The aging period varies per vintage.

The wines have already scored 90 points or higher from The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) several times. In 2011, Bevan Cellars was the only winery in Napa Valley to score 100 points. The best vintages are: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016.
