The Lalù 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo is fragile and delicate in the best sense, opening to floral aromas of violet and light red fruit carried by a transparent and graceful frame. The palate is finely textured and fresh, shaped by restrained extraction and a short maceration. Blended from east-facing vineyards in La Morra and sandy soils in Bussia Bovi, this Nebbiolo captures the contrast between marl-driven elegance and lighter, more ephemeral structure.
The 2023 allies the freshness and drinkability of contemporary Langhe Nebbiolo with a heightened level of sophistication. It also exhibits surprising delicacy for such a hot vintage. Scents of strawberry and violet lead to bitter herbs and chinotto on the juicy, red-fruited palate, with linear drive accompanying a lightly powdery, firm texture and concentrated acidity on the finish. From three parcels in the villages of Monforte d’Alba and La Morra, this Langhe Nebbiolo sees a pied de cuve and spontaneous fermentation with some whole berries. It is refined predominantly in cement to avoid extracting too much wood.
